Lions Cricket and REEA Foundation Epilepsy Care Centre are thrilled to partner on a recycling project as part of reducing our carbon footprint ahead of Global Recycling Day (18 March 2024).
REEA Foundation is an Epilepsy Care Centre located in Randburg, which provides a home to 39 residents, offering onsite nursing care, meals, activities and entertainment. The important work done by the foundation resonates with Lions Cricket which made it easy for the collaboration. “At Lions Cricket we truly value the partnership with organizations such as the REEA Foundation, where changing lives and impacting communities is at the forefront of everything we do within our ecosystem and by making an impact not just in our environments but in the lives of others” stated Lions Cricket Chief Financial Officer Brecht Mohonathan.
Lions Cricket will be hosting the team from REEA Foundation on a bi-weekly basis to sort out the waste according to material and recyclability. All proceeds of this project will be donated to the Foundation for its charitable causes.
Elinor Demetrio, from REEA Foundation added “The partnership not only promotes environmental sustainability but also demonstrates the power of community collaboration. Thank you to everyone involved for making a positive impact on and off the field.”
Therefore, in line with this year’s theme #Recylingheroes let us continue to be just that and make a difference in our environments. Recycling is pivotal in conserving natural resources, reducing pollution and combating climate change. And we urge all staff to become #recyclingheroes in their spaces.
According to Global Recycling, Recycling is a key part of the circular economy, helping to protect our natural resources. Each year the ‘Seventh Resource’ (recyclables) saves over 700 million tons in CO2 emissions and this is projected to increase to 1 billion tons by 2030.
