RUSSELL DOMINGO – HEAD COACH

Russell Domingo assumes the role of head coach for the DP World Lions Men’s Team, leading the squad with a wealth of experience and a profound understanding of the game. Described by Lions Cricket CEO, Jono Leaf-Wright, as a figure embodying calmness, knowledge, and a deep connection to both the sport and its players, Domingo has left an unforgettable mark on the cricketing landscape. His coaching journey encompasses significant milestones, including guiding the SA u/19 team in 2004, the Warriors in 2005, and serving as the Proteas’ T20I Coach in 2012 before taking on the role of head coach for all formats from 2013 to 2017. Domingo’s international coaching portfolio extends to the Bangladesh national team in 2019, contributing to the growth of cricket globally by also coaching the Netherlands team before assuming his current position with the DP World Lions Men’s Team. With his extensive coaching background and unwavering dedication, Domingo continues to make invaluable contributions to the growth and success of cricket at both domestic and international levels.

JIMMY KGAMADI – ASSISTANT COACH

Jimmy Kgamadi holds the role of Assistant Coach for the DP World Lions Men’s Team, boasting a CSA Level 3 coaching qualification and an impressive 15 years of coaching experience. His coaching journey began concurrently with his First-Class cricket career with the North West Dragons, where he engaged in development coaching for both urban and rural cricket.
Upon retiring from cricket, Kgamadi transitioned to roles as a groundsman at North West cricket and Markotter Stadium in Klerksdorp. His commitment to cricket development continued as he took on responsibilities as the North West KFC Mini Cricket Coordinator. Subsequently, he assumed leadership roles as the North West Provincial Head Coach for under-17, under-19, and the North West Academy, as well as the Assistant Coach for the North West Dragons.
Kgamadi’s coaching expertise extends internationally, having served as the Assistant Coach for the Nigeria under-19 World Cup team and the CSA Women’s T20 Super League. In the 2021/22 season, he joined Lions Cricket as an Assistant Coach for the senior Men’s team, achieving a notable highlight in his career by securing three trophies in just two years with the DP World Lions Men’s Team

PRASANNA AGORAM – HIGH PERFORMANCE MANAGER

Prasanna Agoram currently serves as the High-Performance Manager for the DP World Lions Men’s team. With a robust educational background in electronic engineering and a master’s degree in computers, Agoram brings a unique blend of technical expertise and sports management acumen to his role. With over 23 years of professional experience, Agoram is a seasoned professional in the field.

He holds a Level 3 CSA coaching certification and is also a Level 2 qualified umpire accredited by the BCCI. Agoram’s diverse experience includes a notable two-year stint as a performance analyst with the Indian hockey team, as well as involvement with prestigious cricket leagues such as the IPL, Big Bash, PSL, CPL, SA League, and various T20 leagues. His multifaceted background equips him with a comprehensive understanding of high-performance dynamics and strategic insights, contributing significantly to the success and development of the DP World Lions Men’s team.

ZIYAAD MAHOMED – PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Ziyaad is a dedicated physiotherapist with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Medunsa. His passion for healthcare led him to embark on a fulfilling career, starting with hospital work at Garden City Hospital, where he gained valuable experience in treating a diverse range of patients. Transitioning to private practice, Ziyaad had the privilege of working alongside renowned sports physician Dr. Shaheen Abrahams, former doctor for the prestigious Kaizer Chiefs. Together, they provided top-notch care to athletes and individuals seeking rehabilitation. In 2016, Ziyaad expanded his expertise to the sports domain by joining Wanderers Sports Center, where he has been instrumental in optimizing performance and preventing injuries for athletes across various disciplines. His commitment to excellence in sports medicine further flourished when he began collaborating with the DP World Lions Men’s team in 2020.

NANDILE TYALI – STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Nandile Tyali holds the position of Head of Strength and Conditioning for the DP World Lions men’s team. Originally from King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape, Tyali’s journey in cricket began during his schooling years at Dale Junior and later Selborne College, where his talent earned him the prestigious Jacques Kallis Bursary. Following his matriculation, Tyali pursued higher education at the University of Fort Hare, where he obtained degrees in Sport and Exercise Physiology, as well as Sports and Exercise Honors, supported by Cricket South Africa (CSA) Study and Cricket Bursaries.

His career path led him to employment with CSA, initially at the Fort Hare Academy and subsequently at Warriors Camps, both at age levels and at the National Academy level. In August 2018, Tyali transitioned to his current role with the DP World Lions. Noteworthy achievements include his tenure as the Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Jozi Stars in the Mzansi Super League in both 2018 and 2019. In 2023, he assumed the position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Joburg Super Kings and became the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in 2024, further solidifying his reputation in the field.

DR DHAVINA NAIDOO – TEAM DOCTOR

Dr Dhavina Naidoo completed her MBChB at Walter Sisulu University, successfully completed her MSc(Sports Med) at the University of Pretoria and DMH (CMSA). She has extensive experience in Psychiatry that helps her provide a holistic approach to patients. She is currently the team physician for the DP World Lions Men and Ladies cricket teams. She serves as the Independent Match Day Doctor at the Domestic and international cricket fixtures held at the DP World Wanderers.

She is also the Team Physician for the Junior Springbok Women and acts as Match Day Doctor for many of the rugby matches held at Emirates Airline Park, including International Test matches, URC, EPCR and Currie Cup competitions. She has acted as the World Rugby Appointed Tournament Women’s Teams Doctor for the 2022 and 2023 editions of the HSBC SVNS and as Head Injury Assessment Doctor for World Rugby Challengers and U/20 Rugby Championship.

She is passionate about player welfare and athlete mental health.

AMIT BHOOLA – TEAM MANAGER

Amit Bhoola holds the position of Team Manager for the DP World Lions Men’s Team. He is equipped with a BCom Honours in Sport Management. In addition to his role with the team, Bhoola contributes to the internal operations of the finance department, collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer. Describing himself as a passionate sports enthusiast, Bhoola brings a comprehensive skill set to his dual responsibilities within the realms of sports management and finance.

Hashim Mahomed Amla – Batting Coach

Hashim Mahomed Amla, affectionately known as the Mighty Hash, is a retired South African cricketer who formerly led the national team in Tests and ODIs. Amla, recognized for his prowess as a right-handed batsman, holds the distinction of achieving the highest individual Test score by any South African batsman, an impressive 311 not out. On January 18, 2023, Amla announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Currently, he serves as the Batting Consultant for the DP World Lions. Previously, Amla contributed his expertise as the Cape Cobras’ T20 batting consultant in 2019 and as the batting coach for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League from 2020 to 2022. He also served as the batting coach for MI Cape Town SA20 from 2023 to 2024.

Allan Donald – Bowling Coach

Allan Donald, affectionately dubbed the fearsome fast bowler and famously recognized as the ‘White Lightning,’ serves as the bowling consultant for the DP World Lions Men. Jono Leaf-Wright, CEO of Lions Cricket, lauds Donald as a powerhouse, citing his immense skill, patience, commendable coaching experience, and overall positive demeanor, which are poised to greatly enhance the team’s bowling attack.
Donald boasts an extensive coaching resume, having served as the bowling coach for six international teams and two IPL teams. Additionally, he assumed the role of Head Coach for the ITEC Knights during the 2020/22 season, further solidifying his reputation as a respected figure in the cricketing world.
