Johannesburg – 27 January 2025:
As part of their ongoing efforts to further empower players and coaching staff, #ThePrideOfJozi is pleased to announce their partnership with the world’s premier cricket training analytics platform, Ludimos. Having commenced last month, the collaboration marks a groundbreaking milestone as Lions Cricket becomes the first professional cricket union in the country to adopt this cutting-edge technology which will aid in elevating training and performance.
Ludimos harnesses AI-powered video analysis to provide coaches and players with real-time insights into training sessions. The app allows players to upload their training videos, receive feedback on their biomechanics, and track their improvement over time. This tool will enhance the Lions’ training sessions, enabling coaches to focus on areas that need improvement while empowering players with data-driven insights to take their game to the next level.
“The Lions and Ludimos partnership will redefine how training is approached,” so says Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright. “Both coaches and players will have access to advanced tools to optimize their performance and enhance their development. This partnership reflects our Union’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve by adopting the best global practices in cricket training. The teams are now even better equipped with the tools to track progress, analyze biomechanics, and deliver personalized feedback— ensuring every player has the opportunity to refine their skills. Having made use of it for over a month now, our coaches reflect that coaching has stepped up a notch and are all the better for it.”
DP World Lions Women’s Head Coach Shaun Pretorius concurs commenting that the app gives an objective perspective with regards to player development. “It also gives real data in real time and uploads videos/drills instantly. In addition, Ludimos allows you to add players and coaches to a specific video or drills for their reference in the future. It helps us spot the technical and or mental area’s requiring work and also gives us a clear biomechanical understanding of the player’s skill. I spoke to teammate Shabnim Ismail post her use of the app on the very first day of use and she confirmed our beliefs: “All bowlers need this information because they can identify the good or bad that they are doing.” We love the fact that it gives real speed of bowlers, beehives, pitch maps and so on. As a coach, it aids us in monitoring player performances and identifying trends in their respective skills”.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Pride and support their vision for excellence,” said Monali Kamffer, Ludimos SA. “Our platform is designed to empower teams with the tools they need to succeed, and we’re excited to see Lions Cricket lead the way in South African cricket.”
DP World Lions Men’s Head Coach, Russell Domingo says that the addition of the Ludimos training tool gives the Pride the edge not only amongst the current pool of professional players but also aids in inspiring and nurturing the next generation of cricketing excellence.
Already used by elite teams like the Delhi Capitals and RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Ludimos is bringing world-class training expertise to Lions Cricket, elevating the standard of player development not only in the Prides powerful pipeline, but indeed throughout South Africa.
