Johannesburg, 23 October 2026

The inaugural Hollywoodbets Premier T20 Cup has reached its knockout stage, with six semi-finals set to determine the finalists ahead of a triple-header at the Wanderers Top Oval on Saturday, 31 October.

Launched as the opening competition of the 2026/27 Lions Cricket premier club season, the Hollywoodbets Premier T20 Cup brings together 32 teams across three divisions: Premier A Men (12 teams), Premier B Men (12 teams) and Ladies (8 teams).

With results contributing to the overall weighting for promotion and relegation this season, the competition has delivered a compelling start to the campaign, with every match carrying significant implications for the teams involved.

The round-robin stage has produced several standout performances. In the Ladies division, Wanderers Cricket Club and GM Old Edwardians Cricket Club each completed the group stage unbeaten, winning all three of their matches. In Premier A Men, Jeppe Cricket Club and Marks Park Thistles Cricket Club each recorded five wins from five matches. Randfontein Cricket Club also topped Premier B Men Group A without a defeat, recording four wins and one no result.

With the group stages complete, the top two teams from each group have progressed to the semi-finals, setting up an exciting week of knockout cricket across all three divisions.

Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright said the competition had already demonstrated the strength and depth of club cricket within the Lions Cricket system. “We are exceptionally proud of this competition and genuinely grateful to Hollywoodbets for their wholehearted commitment to club cricket, an integral part of the Pride’s development pipeline.

The talent, passion and determination that we have witnessed so early on in the season bodes well for an exceptional campaign ahead. To all the teams competing in the semi-finals, I wish you well. Play fair, play hard and embrace this inaugural opportunity. The stakes are high, and we look forward to seeing the teams rise to the occasion.”

The knockout stage gets underway on Saturday 24 October, with the Ladies semi-finals: Wanderers Cricket Club take on Delfos Cricket Club, while GM Old Edwardians Cricket Club face PAV Soweto Pioneers Cricket Club.

The Premier B Men’s semi-finals follow on Sunday 25 October, with Randfontein Cricket Club meeting Jeppe Cricket Club and Old Parktonian Cricket Club taking on GM Old Edwardians Cricket Club.

Attention then turns to Premier A Men, with Marks Park Thistles Cricket Club facing Wanderers Cricket Club at the Wanderers Top Oval on Wednesday, 28 October. Jeppe Cricket Club meet Pirates Cricket Club at the same venue on Friday, 30 October, in the final semi-final of the competition.

All roads lead to the Wanderers Top Oval on Saturday, 31 October, for finals day. The Ladies final starts at 09:00, followed by the Premier B Men’s final at 13:30, before the Premier A Men’s final takes centre stage under lights at 18:00.

With silverware, early-season momentum and valuable promotion and relegation weighting at stake, the inaugural Hollywoodbets Premier T20 Cup is all to play for, and has most certainly set the Gold Standard for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.
