Johannesburg – The powerful sponsorship will see McDonald’s SA involved with and investing in Lions Cricket, from pipeline to professional, for the coming three years.

The latest signing joins the Pride despite the Covid challenges globally. Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright says that the Union has an appetite like never before;

“We’re hungry, make no mistake. We are hungry for success, for partnerships, for growth and for deliverables. I cannot fully express my gratitude and delight and warmly welcome world number one all-rounder McDonald’s SA to the Lions Family. As Lions Cricket, we are aligned on so many levels with brand McDonald’s and the values and ethos they operate with. We feel truly privileged and blessed to have their backing and support and are really excited to walk a long, fun, meaningful and sustainable journey with them”.

The Golden Arches will be displayed proudly on the Imperial Lions Men’s and Imperial Lions Women’s kit as well as our Academy, U19 and U16 kit.

McDonald’s SA plays an active role in the communities in which it operates and has been involved with sport at grass roots level for many years. “We are excited to be the proud sponsor of the iconic Lions Cricket team and find it fitting that we announce this sponsorship in National Women’s Month, knowing it will inspire young men and women to pursue their cricket dreams. We believe it’s important to create opportunities for our country’s talent to succeed and shine and are thrilled to extend our support to this amazing sport,” says Daniel Padiachy, Executive for Marketing, Supply Chain and IT.

Leaf-Wright concludes that having already commenced the journey, what is evident is the shared vision of a positive future for cricket. “There’s no question that this passionate, proud and professional brand will bolster our line-up even further in our quest not only for domestic dominance and global brand presence, but most importantly for the growth of the game at all levels in which we serve.” #ThePrideOfJozi #LionsCricket
