13 March 2025, Johannesburg
We caught up with DP World Lions Blind Cricket President Isaac Bidla, to chat about where the team is at right now, as well as what’s ahead for 2025. Here’s what he had to say:
DP World Lions Blind Cricket is constantly evolving and developing a winning mentality. We are currently busy with the preparations for the 2025 Blind Cricket South Africa National Tournament that will be held in Limpopo from the 26 April – 1 May 2025. Our players will aim to stay in peak physical condition and maintain good form through a busy calendar. Fitness will remain a top priority to avoid injuries and maintain consistent performances across all formats.
Our Lions Pride boys always strive to perform well in all tournaments that they partake in, not only aiming to secure the win, but also to improve our standards. Continuing to develop a consistent winning mentality, especially in high pressure games, will be key.
On a domestic front, the JHB T20 tournament will provide the necessary platform for up-and coming players to push for a spot in the DP World Lions Cricket team.
All of our players want to focus on their individual milestones, staying fit, adapting to team dynamics, and capitalizing on opportunities in all competitions. With the right approach, players can look forward to both personal and team success in the upcoming year.
The upcoming JHB T20 tournament is a core pillar of an exciting strategic direction for the game of Blind cricket in Johannesburg.
This tournament is developed to fulfil some of the main objectives of hosting local events, promoting and administering the game of blind cricket in Johannesburg and the province at large. In addition, the tournament will help the DP World Lions Blind Cricket players to prepare for the 2025 T20 Blind Cricket SA National Tournament that will be held end of April in Limpopo.
In this JHB T20 tournament we will see three clubs participating (Bush Bucks blind Cricket Club, JHB Society for the Blind and Tshwane University of Technology) starting from the 21st – 23rd of March at Riverlea Cricket Ground. All three teams are set to play against each other in a T20 format – it will be a great opportunity to showcase the sport of blind cricket at a high level to both local and national crowds. The public are most welcome and strongly encouraged to come and enjoy as entry is free.
